Description: Oblique aerial view of the River Tay valley below Perth from above Kinnoull Hill looking south-east. Wooded dip-slope of Lower Devonian lavas of Kinnoull Hill in foreground. On Kinnoull Hill basic pyroxene-andesites form the upper surface and the crags while below is an acid volcanic conglomerate in a thick sequence. Most of the lower ground of the Tay flood plain is postglacial inter-tidal clay and silty clays (Carse Clays) or alluvium and post-Carse estuarine deposits.
