Caption: Oblique aerial view of the coast just north of Bilsdean Creek, 10.4 km. south-east of Dunbar. East Lothian.
Description: Continued erosion of the cliff backwards has left a fine example of a wave-cut platform showing preferential erosion along the joints. As the force of the wave erosion is now dissipated by having to travel over the platform, only the lower cliff slopes are vertical. The upper slopes are now attacked by sub-aerial erosion. Note the formation of gullies. Weathering of sandstone. Strongly cross-bedded red sandstone (Calciferous Sandstone Measures, Carboniferous) weathered along joints by wave action forming stacks.
