Description: | Gorsley. Downton Castle Sandstone overlying Upper Ludlow Shale and Gorsley Limestone (probably Wenlock Limestone). At Gorsley the Downton Castle Sandstone (pale flaggy micaceous sandstone) overlies a thin Ludlow succession in which the Lower Ludlow Shale and Aymestry Limestone appear to be missing. The Upper Ludlow Shale rests on a limestone, (in base of picture) which is probably Wenlock Limestone. |
