Description: Road-cutting, S. side of Sutton Walls. Gravel of the Sutton Walls Terrace. A section near the base of the Pebble Gravels of the Fourth River Terrace of the Lugg (the Sutton Walls Terrace). The gravels are mature; the clasts are well-rounded and fairly well sorted and there is very little matrix. Virtually all the clasts are grey, fine-grained Ludlow sandstone pebbles, many of which are tabular in shape and imbricated in a manner suggesting that they were deposited by a current flowing from left to right in the photograph. Note the black (?) manganiferous layer near the bottom of the section.
