Description: River Exe headwaters, Exmoor. Exmoor topography. The country to the left (north) of the river is underlain by Hangman Grits. The steeper slopes to the right are of Combe Martin Slates rising to Kentisbury Slates. The old hedge line parallel to the valley and on the left of it marks the proposed route for the Exmoor-Porlock railway, which was never built.
