Description: Oblique aerial view of St. Abb's from the east-north-east. Berwickshire. The view shows the cliffs composed of andesitic and basaltic lavas of Lower Old Red Sandstone age. The rocks on the headland (lighthouse buildings on extreme left) are thickly-bedded andesitic and basaltic lavas with thinner partings of tuffaceous pebbly grits. The beds dip to the left (south-east) and the top of one lava flow is clearly seen. The distant rocks are Silurian greywackes and siltstones, strongly folded, against which the lavas are faulted. Crag and tail (glacial landform) is well developed on the skyline.
