Description: Oblique aerial view of St. Abb's from the east. Berwickshire. The rocks in the foreground are intrusive porphyrites and agglomerates. The village and harbour are clearly seen. The high ground is formed of Silurian greywackes and siltstones. The shore and cliffs are made up of intrusive porphyrites and agglomerates, generally unbedded and with some very large blocks of igneous rock. They probably occur within a volcanic vent and are of Lower Old Red Sandstone age. A basic dyke of Permo-Carboniferous age lies just to the left of the harbour and can be seen protruding seawards from the near corner.
