| Description: | Evan's Quarry, Wildmoor. Looking NNE. Wildmoor Sandstone Quarry. The Wildmoor Sandstone is quarried for moulding sand, for which it is suitable with no processing other than crushing. In this abandoned part of the workings the weathered sandstone can be seen to be in graded beds, the coarse lower parts of the units appearing wet and encouraging vegetation growth. Gentle cross-bedding can be seen in the centre of the face. The hill behind is capped by boulder clay. |
