Description: Oblique aerial view of Coldingham Sands taken from the east-north-east. Milldown Point, on the left, is made up of highly contorted greywackes and siltstones of the Coldingham Beds. The Coldingham Beds are cut by thick dyke-like bodies of acid igneous rock, and are capped by a conical mass of fluvioglacial sand. Such sand is widespread between Coldingham and the sea. The Coldingham Beds were once thought to be older than any of the Llandovery rocks nearby but are now thought to be late-Silurian age.
