Caption: St. David's Church, Trostrey, near Usk.
Description: St. David's Church, Trostrey, near Usk. Devensian ice limits and valley train gravels, Llancayo. The isolated tree just to the left of the buildings in the tributary valley on the left of the photograph stands on the nick point between fluvioglacial gravels graded 6 -7 m. above the Usk valley train gravels forming the flat on the centre right. The River Usk lies beyond the tower and the base of its gravel-filled buried valley is cut directly into bedrock 15 m. below the top of the gravel flat. The limit of late-Devensian glacial ice in the Usk Valley runs just below the ploughed field, and passes beneath the top of the gravel flat downstream. The Llanbadoc Fault runs down the tributary valley and through the gap town of Usk, sited on a constriction in the Usk Valley behind the tower. The distant wooded hills of Wentwood beyond are formed of Brownstones (Lower Old Red Sandstone). See also description for A13483.
