Description: Belmont Gravel Pit, Belmont, Hereford. Fluvioglacial (outwash) gravel, Belmont. View of west-south-west facing section showing mostly the coarse, cobbly gravel of the upper division. The finer gravel with thin sand beds of the middle division is largely covered by tallus. The clasts are a mixture of Welsh (Lower Palaeozoic) and local (Old Red Sandstone) rocks and the tabular ones are imbricated indicating a current direction from left to right (to 114 degrees - 124 degrees).
