Description: Disused chalk-pit, S. of Colchester Road, Sudbury. Thanet Beds. In the section shown approximately 3.5 m. of blocky, pinkish silty fine-grained sands comprise the Thanet Beds. The vague colour banding probably indicates the bedding. The lower 40 cm. - immediately above the top of the chalk - contain much glauconite. A few glauconite coated flints are present at the base of the formation.
