Description: Gravel-pit 0.5 km. NNE of Plum Street, near Glemsford. Well-bedded Glacial Sand and Gravel. Poorly sorted chalky sands and gravels with low-angle cross-bedding which is best displayed in the bottom left of the photograph. Lenses of finely laminated silt which consists mainly of chalk flour appears as the palest horizons in the section. The gravel comprises predominantly nodular flint along with a variety of erratic rock types from Cretaceous and Jurassic sandstones and limestones to quartz porphyry.
