Caption: Oblique aerial view from above Achadun Castle, looking north-east along the coast of Lismore. Argyll and Bute.
Description: The age of the platform is uncertain. It may have formed partly on the Loch Lomond Stadial about 11,000-10,000 years ago but it may also have been an older feature that has been reworked. The cliff and platform can be seen extending along practically the whole coast of Lismore. The castle sits above the Main Rock Platform, a Quaternary shore line and cliff. The rocks belong to the Lismore Limestone Formation of the Blair Atholl Subgroup of the Dalradian Supergroup (Precambrian).
