Description: Oblique aerial view of Castle Coeffin, Lismore. Argyll and Bute. The castle stands on the Main Rock Platform, a Quaternary shore line and cliff regarded as one of the best-developed raised shore lines in Scotland and indeed Europe. The cliff line 5-15 metres high along with a platform that can reach 100 metres wide can be traced uninterrupted along the whole length of the island. The island of Lismore is composed of a thick sequence of flaggy limestones with subordinate black slates crossed by Tertiary dolerite dykes.
