Description: Badwell Ash, 15 km. ENE of Bury St. Edmunds. Cryoturbated contact of 'cover sand' and Chalky Boulder Clay. Fresh Chalky Boulder Clay is seen in the lower part of the photograph. The upper surface is leached free of chalk and has a reddish hue. Into the uppermost metre of boulder clay has been cryoturbated a thin layer of 'cover sand', and which appears in the photograph (at the level of the hammer) as isolated balls, but which in adjacent sections can be seen to be in continuity with cover sand at the surface. At the top of the section is some 0.3 m. of dumped Chalky Boulder Clay.
