Lower Devonian lavas on the high ground are separated from the Upper Devonian sandstones by the Moncreiffe Fault. North-west-dipping Lower Devonian lavas forming scarp features on Moncreiffe Hill are separated from Upper Devonian reddish-brown sandstones typical of the Clashbenny Formation occupying the low ground by a large fault, approximately on the line of the new M90 motorway under construction. |
