Description: Newingtons Limeworks Quarry, Glynde Station. Well marked marl parting and hard ground in Lower Chalk. Pale grey, blocky, marly chalk with prominent marl parting at base resting with sharp base on hard ground at top of typical Lower Chalk rhythm. Faint traces of sponges may be seen in hard bed at about level of hammer handle. Hard chalk passes down gradually to softer, more marly chalk.
