Description: Oblique aerial view of the Carse of Stirling at the Forth-Allan water confluence taken from above Bridge of Allan. Stirlingshire. Craigforth the isolated wooded hill is composed of basalts of Calciferous Sandstone Measures (Carboniferous) age. The flat ground traversed by the meanders of the River Forth and Allan Water is composed of raised post-glacial marine deposits (Carse Clays). The wooded hill in the middle distance is formed of Carboniferous lavas immediately beyond the Ochil Fault which traverses the area from left to right. Similar lavas form the Gargunnock Hills in the background.
