Description: | Oblique aerial view of meanders of River Forth near Heathershot 4 km. north-west of Stirling. The farm Steeds is in the forgeround, Heathershot is the small dwelling nearer the meander. A river, in its course of development swings from side to side within its valley floor. When it forms a large wide flood plain, unhindered by valley sides it is free to develop in any direction. Meanders are such freely-developing bends. |
