Description: | Oblique aerial view of the south end of the island of Ailsa Craig. Looking north. Note the triangular raised beach on the right and the pseudo-columnar, sub-vertical jointing on the right. The triangular raised beach is fringed by prograding storm ridges and an associated spit of Foreland Point. These features are caused by the prevailing westerly winds and waves since postglacial times. |
