Description: Brown's Pit, Stanton Harcourt (Amey Gravel Ltd.). Looking SE. Upper Thames Gravels (Northmoor Terrace). A 'raft' of peat in limestone gravels of the Thames flood plain terrace (Northmoor Terrace). Streaks of reddish-brown colouration in the upper part of the gravels are due to iron-staining. Dull brown colouration above the peat is due to the formation of iron hard-pan.
