Description: Willesley Quarry. Looking W. Large-scale cross-bedding in Coal Measures. The strata exposed are in the Pottery Clays Formation, Middle Coal Measures. A thin coal seam (probably the P26) is being worked. Above this, the lower part of the face shows about 3 m. of dark grey seatearth with another thin coal (the P25) on top. Resting with sharp junction on the P25 are light grey siltstones showing large-scale trough cross-bedding in their lower part. They pass upwards (top of face) to light grey seatearth.
