Description: Disused quarry, 250 m. SW of site of Union Lodge, Woodville. Looking E. Strata at Overseal Marine Band horizon. The light yellowish-grey clays forming the lowest part of the face of this water-filled pit are seatearths which include, at the top, the Derby Fireclay. Above them is a thin coal seam (the P.31 or Derby Coal) (not clearly seen in the photo) and above that the dark grey shales of the Overseal Marine Band, 6 to 9 m. thick, with a prominent grey sandstone bed above.
