Description: | Sandon Pit, Sandon, near Chelmsford. Looking W. Disturbed glacial sand and gravel. These stratified deposits of glacial sand and gravel are found in a much disturbed position. Minor faults crossing and offsetting the strata suggest that the feature is due to a collapse of the sand and gravel deposits into a 'hollow' previously occupied by ice. |
