Description: | Looking north from west shore of Loch Ness at lochside 1.4 km. south-east of Invermoriston to Creag nan Eun. Inverness-shire. Hill of Moine psammite. The Moine rocks were deposited in Precambrian times as a series of clastic sediments resting unconformably on a basement of Older Lewisian gneisses (not exposed). Subsequent metamorphism (amphibolite facies) transformed the sandstones into psammites. Note the rainbow. |
