Description: Open pit 305 m. S. 30 degrees of Grange Farm, Merton. Looking SSW. Court Moor ball clay-pit. The photograph shows a sequence of grey yellow-weathering smooth to silty kaolinitic clays of Lower Tertiary age dipping at around 25 degrees to the south-west. The clays are overlain by brown gravels of Pleistocene - Recent age, and these can be seen around the far rim of the pit.
