Description: Largo Law. A denuded volcanic neck. Part of a complex volcanic centre probably of Namurian or early Westphalian (Carboniferous) age. It stands 292 metres above O.D. and forms a conspicuous hill, with its summit cleft by an east-west depression. The hill is built mainly of tuff and agglomerate with intrusions of basalt, basanite and monchiquite. The break in slope in the middle distance marks the approximate margin of the neck, the lower ground being formed of Carboniferous sediments and bedded tuffs and agglomerates. The neck is composed largely of green, yellow or purple coarse tuff or fine agglomerate, with basaltic bombs up to 0.3 metres in diameter. Intrusions are numerous, near the summit they are sheet-like and on the lower slopes they tend to be dykes.
