Description: East coast of Eigg from the sea. Inverness-shire. Southerly-dipping Tertiary lavas of the Eigg Lava Formation with light-coloured mugearite among the basalts. Landslips lie at the base of the escarpment. Individual lava flows c. 5-10 m. thick may be continuously exposed for several kilometres. The grey-weathering mugearite is a conspicuous example of this. This distinctive marker flow, generally 10-15 m. thick links the lava successions of northern and south-western Eigg.
