Description: | Camas Sgiotaig, Isle of Eigg. Inverness-shire. The rocks in the bay belong to the Valtos Sandstone Formation (Jurassic) a pale sandstone that gives rise to pure white beach sands, the famous 'singing sands' of Camas Sgiotaig. The rockfall is in concretionary sandstones (Great Estuarine Group) on the north side of the bay. The glacial moraine ridge of Blar Mor lies to the right, it is one of two major ridges of basaltic debris one of which is 60 m. high. |
