Description: Gullane Bay, looking west. East Lothian. Dunes, cliff of the Lower Gullane Head Sill composed of dolerite is in the middle distance and sedimentary rocks of Lower Carboniferous age. Freshly eroded blown sand-dunes in the foreground are composed of fine-grained, cross-bedded sand consisting of mainly quartz with about 10% shell debris and 5% ferromagnesian minerals. Sedimentary rocks forming Hummell Rocks on the distant foreshore.
