| Description: | Gullane Bay, looking north. East Lothian. Dunes and basaltic intrusion. Active dunes of blown sand on low raised beach deposits. In the distance the basaltic intrusion of the Black Rocks Sill. The deposits of blown sand are mostly Recent in age though some may date back to the Postglacial in age. They can form ridges up to 6-8 metres high. The Black Rocks Sill is an intrusion of olivine-basalt of the Hillhouse type intruded within Calciferous Sandstone Measures. |
