Description: View from the cliff path immediately S. of Smith's Cliff, Tintagel. Looking NW. Joint controlled erosion of cliffs in north Cornwall. The narrow 'guts' and sheer faces of these cliffs are produced by marine erosion along joint surfaces. The other dominant surface, a flat-lying cleavage, causes the cliff to separate into slabby blocks (as seen on the right) when collapse occurs.
