Description: Rackwick Valley, Hoy. Orkney. Looking south-south-east to cliffs of Mel Fea and Whitefowl Hill. Cliffs of horizontally-bedded Hoy Sandstone (Upper Old Red Sandstone). The Hoy Sandstone is a series of red and yellow sandstones with thin marly partings, and has a thickness of at least 3,500 feet. Note the dwelling in the foreground on the right.
