Description: Tintagel Head. Looking N. View of Tintagel Head (or Island). Gently folded well cleaved Upper Delabole Slates show a strong near vertical jointing which trends north-west and rests on Middle Culm Measures volcanic rocks. The cave in the middle distance and the thin isthmus connecting Tintagel Head to the mainland are the result of erosion by the sea along north-west dipping faults. The cliff line in the foreground is also controlled by north-west dipping faults.
