| Description: | Loch Leven and the Mamore Hills, view eastwards from Beinn a' Bheithir, Ballachulish. Inverness-shire. Loch Leven is a fiord-like loch eroded along the line of a shatter belt. The hills are formed mainly of Dalradian schists within the Kinlochleven Recumbent Anticline. Ballachulish Slates in the quarry in the foreground. The valley is the result of ice scour during glacial times, which was particularly active along the transcurrent fault lines and shatter belts of the Grampian Highlands. |
