Description: Southwood Brickworks, about 1/4 m. S. by E. of Leathern Bottle Inn, Cranleigh. Looking NW. Section in Weald Clay. A closer view of part of the face shown in No. A9602. It shows the prominent silty clay band, pale coloured and some 2 ft. 3 in. thick. Below it comes dark grey shaly clay and immediately above it in places is seen a 2-3 in. layer of clay-ironstone, weathering into thin rectangular blocks, above which comes more shaly clay, with an indistinct pale coloured band near the top of the face.
