Description: From Beaumont Park, Huddersfield. Looking E. The Holme valley; Taylor Hill; and Castle Hill; Huddersfield. The high Lockwood railway viaduct crosses the alluvial flat of the Holme valley. The opposite slope with quarries is the escarpment of the Rough Rock. The line of houses and other buildings is on the top of the Rough Rock terrace. The wooded scarp to the left known as Taylor Hill consists of Soft Bed Flags. The long level line on the horizon is the escarpment of the Elland Flags. The hill crowned with a modern tower and remains of a Roman escarpment is Castle Hill and consists of a small outlier of Grenoside Rock.
