Description: River cliff, Brearley, near Halifax. Looking E. River cliff of boulder clay and shale. The cliff is on the right bank of the Calder at the bend of Brearley Mills. The lower 20 ft. of the section consists of shale and rag of the Millstone Grit Series between the Upper and Lower Kinderscout Grits; dipping south: above is about 12 ft. of clayey sand and gravel containing blocks and boulders of grit and sandstone. This glacial deposit occupies a platform on a spur in the (Calder) valley.
