Description: North side of Braid Hills, Edinburgh. Midlothian. Ice-moulded surface of Lower Devonian trachyte lava flow of the Braid Hills. The photograph shows parallel groovings produced by ice flowing from west to east, i.e. in a direction away from observer. The area today is a golf course. Liberton can be seen in the distance. Blackford Hill is the northern continuation of the Lower Devonian Pentland Hills Volcanic Rocks.
