Description: | Munlochy Bay, Moray Firth, 6.4 km. north of Inverness-shire. Ross & Cromarty. Terraces and sea-ciffs of 25 ft., and 100 ft. raised beaches on the distant shore; the 25 ft. raised beach in foreground. Munlochy Bay has the most extensive area of tidal-flat deposition on the Black Isle, where dark grey muddy silt is exposed along both shores at low tide. Note the cottage on the left. A raised beach is an ancient beach raised above the present shoreline. It is elevated above the present shoreline due to either uplift or falling sea levels. |
