Description: | Mountains of Mamore Forest looking south from the summit of Ben Nevis. Inverness-shire. A dissected plateau. Mountains of interfolded Glencoe Quartzite and Leven Schists forming part of the West Grampian Complex. The lighter top of the central peak, Sgurr a' Mhaim is composed of Glencoe Quartzite while the darker lower slopes are entirely Leven Schists, younger in age. The glacially eroded U-shaped valley of Glen Nevis with the hanging valley of Allt Coire a' Mhail can be seen above the An Steall waterfall. Forms part of a panorama with C01769 and C0170. |
