Description: | Quarry SE of Wannock Glen Tea Gardens, about 1 m. S. of Polegate. Middle and Lower Chalk near Filching. The junction of these divisions of the Chalk is marked by a dark shaped bank just above the higher talus in the left-hand half of the view. Above this band is the Melbourn Rock, passing up into nodular chalk with partings of marl. Beneath it, and much obscured by talus, are the Actinocamax plenus Marls (about 5 ft.), passing down into the distinctly-bedded blocky chalk of the Holaster subglobosus Zone. |
