Description: | Southern slope of Ben Nevis. Inverness-shire. The photograph taken from the vicinity of the waterfall An Steall shows the glaciated gorge of Glen Nevis in the low ground while the 'hanging corrie' of Allt Coire Eoghainns in the distance. The foreground is in the Leven Schists while the slopes of Ben Nevis itself are part of the Argyll Suite of Caledonian granite. The hanging valley formed when the main valley was over-deepened in relation to the tributary valley by the glacier that occupied the Glen Nevis valley. |
