Description: Pit in meadow E. of Piddinghoe. Looking NW. Alluvium, Piddinghoe. Pit in stiff, blue-grey, marly, estuarine clay of Recent age, with seams of Scrobicularia and Paludestrina, overlain (in some parts of the pit-section) by freshwater loam with Bithynia. The white layer by the spade is made ground of chalk rubble. The clay is dug for use at Lewes Cement and Lime Works.
