Description: Chalk-pit behind Fox Inn, Southerham (Lewes Cement and Lime Works). Looking E. Lower Chalk, Southerham. A comparatively new quarry, west of Southerham Grey Pit (see No. A2956). The marly chalk seen (above the talus) in the left (N.) face of the quarry is in the Zone of Holaster subglobosus; that in the lowest 10 ft. or so of the farther (E.) face is in the Zone of Schloenbachia varians.
