The quarry in middle and right of view is Southerham Pit, in the Upper and Middle Chalk, parts of the latter indistinctly seen in the low face to right of the dark square (ivy) near the wind-pump, and at the triangular end of the bank above the stranded barge. The Snowdrop Pit (see No. A2960), in the Upper Chalk, on the left. |
