Caption: Lybster Harbour. Caithness.
Description: Following the removal of the ice at the end of the last glaciation the Reisgill Burn, having failed to find the old buried pre-glacial channel, has cut a new, deep rock gorge over half a mile in length. In the background, a pre-glacial river channel is filled with boulder clay. The postglacial Reisgill Burn enters the harbour beneath the bridge to the left from a gorge in the flagstones. The photograph is a good view of the harbour c. 1910.
