Description: 3/4 m. E. of Bowness Knott, above Ennerdale Water. Slope of Great Borne 1100 ft. O.D. Banded spherulitic rhyolite; a loose block from a dyke. The central portion is made up of rows of spherulites averaging ? in. across; below this is an area of close felsitic-looking rock, greenish and pinkish, with scattered spherulites 5/6 in. average diameter, with no definite flow banding. The upper part shows more or less contorted banding with development of spherulites in groups.
