Description: The Clett, Holborn Head. Caithness. Clett, or rectangular flat-topped stack of horizontally-bedded flagstones. Both the main cliff and the stack are capped with a thin layer of boulder clay. The stack is formed by wave erosion concentrated along parallel joints, initially forming deep inlets, then as erosion starts in cross joints between the inlets, caves develop either side, eventually an arch is formed. With the collapse of the arch the stack remains separated from the main cliffline.
